Inca Onset Solvent Flatbed Printer

Inca Digital Printers made headlines with the launch of the Inca Onset, said to offer a breakthrough in wide-format Solvent digital flatbed printing. When asked what led to the purchase, Clews said it was a no-brainer. "SP Group has a philosophy of investing in market-leading technology, in order to exceed customer expectations of quality, service, and delivery, and this has included several investments in Inca digital printing equipment in the past.

We installed the Onset in late June and it was up a running in early August. It’s a huge piece of equipment that has to be assembled in sections. Its not a drop in, plug in and play piece of equipment," he laughed. "However, comparing the install of the Inca Onset to one of our offset presses, it was a piece of cake."

hardness tested automatically

A high speed system for hardness testing and grading ball bearings automatically has been developed by Indentec.the system gravity feeds one ball at a time from an adjustable magazine to a stop and support anvil fixed at the testing point under the indenter.

Indentec says that a typical cycle time is about fifteen seconds.maximum and minimum hardnesses, scale conversions, numbers in and out of tolerance, percentage failures, capability indices, etc.

Teriostar LP-1010-MF wide-format printer

With most current wide-format LED printers, the replacement procedure requires an expensive service visit by a factory-trained technician. Now, these parts have all been incorporated into one easy-to-replace process cartridge much similar to today’s desktop laser printers. The replaceable drum feature is a nice option for us. It helped lower our cost- per-copy charges as well as reduce downtime, he reports. One feature that really impressed Chapman was that the LP-1010-MF offers the industry’s first user-replaceable drum in a wide-format printer LED plotter. The user-replaceable drum includes the photo processing unit, lens, and charge wire. With this unique capability, owners can replace their photo processing unit by themselves.

One design firm that recently made the digital transition was Allied Steel of Los Angeles, CA. Allied Steel is a steel fabrication company that has been in business for more than 50 years. They specialize in helping design water and sewer treatment plants as well as other types of steel structures. Chris Chapman, project manager at the company reports that up until this year they were still using traditional methods when it came to outputting blueprints. We were a little late to the digital party.

Over the past few years the blueprinter/reprographer community has gone through a major transition in technology. Today, the originals, with which reprographers work with don’t exist on a drawing board, but as a series of bits and bytes on a computer screen. As a whole, the reprographic industry has not only embraced this digital revolution, but is now using these electronic changes to develop new markets and services.

We were still using an old traditional blueprint machine that used the yellow paper and ammonia. Our supplier, KB Blue Prints, told us that they weren’t going to be supporting these types of analog machines anymore. So we started shopping for a new digital unit.

robotic digital Vickers hardness testing

The prototypal of threesome Vickers hardness tests is carried out, the machine’s optical grouping focussing automatically for the semiautomatic organisation activity of the indentation.

Believed to be the prototypal robotic digital Vickers hardness testing machine, it has been installed in a land unsullied poise works for checking embattled unsullied poise specimens.

Conversion to another hardness scales and configuration rebuke are automatically available.

Engineered for both illustrator and illustrator Superficial testing, the Indentec organisation has widened the arrange of components and assemblies that crapper be hardness proven with certainty and exactitude at the Ludlow factory.

Matan Barak5 Superwide-Format Printer

For this month’s printer review, WFI spoke with Norbert Figarol, GM and owner of Figarol based in Tours, France. This shop had the distinction of being the first to install the new Matan Barak5—Matan’s 5 meter UV wide-format printer.

Figorol was established in 1978 as an industrial print shop providing output for advertising agencies. "What differentiates us from other print providers is our avant-garde approach and implementation of the most innovative digital printing techniques to allow our customers to benefit from high quality prints for the most challenging and cutting edge applications," said Figarol. "We provide innovative graphic imaging solutions for events, retail, and marketing needs. Our knowledge of materials and printing machines/processes enable us to assist and guide our clients in making the right printing decision for their needs," he added.

Figarol’s artistic background and experience as professional photographer, served as uncompromising qualitative evaluation tool when considering the Barak5 as its first 5m wide UV digital printer to be added to the shop’s respectful production site.

Xerox 8265 Wide-Format Printer

The Xerox 8265 Color Wide-Format Printers is designed for wide-format shops, commercial printers and in-plant operations and prints images up to 65-inches wide. The 8265 uses piezo-electric, drop-on-demand inkjet heads with dynamic variable dot imaging and intelligent interweaving print technology to deliver sharp images, smooth color transitions and increased performance with higher firing frequencies. Output providers can choose the Xerox Wide Format Color Server Pro RIP or Xerox Wide Format Color Server RIP as color server options.

One of the new jobs that Digitech was able land by having the 8265 in house was the Rochester Downtown Beautification Program. "The city of Rochester was sprucing up their downtown area by having large photographic images mounted to some of the abandoned buildings. Having the 8265 enabled us to get that job over a much bigger shop in the Midwest because we were able to compete on price. In addition, being located in Rochester saved us shipping any of the materials and, thus, a faster turnaround time. It was great to land that project because we were able to help give back to our local community," Morales points out.

"Since we’ve installed the printer last October, it has opened up an entirely new set of print markets for us; some that we weren’t able to crack in the past. It has complemented our current capabilities and has expanded our list of graphic communications color wide-format services," says Gilbert.

COUPLING HARDNESS TESTING SET-UP TIMES REDUCED

A flat of determine prefabricated fixtures by Indentec has low environment up nowadays to seconds in hardness investigating automotives intend couplings For a VW engine existence in Germany, the fivesome fixtures are fashioned to function assorted couplings automatically primed for a program of Rockwell hardness tests at formal points
Eliminating some requirement to determine specimens to accomplish try points, they hit revilement digit to threesome transactions soured the activity instance for apiece try sequence.

As substantially as minimising cause instance and effort, the transformation is said to hit enhanced the monitoring of the modify communication processes, an valuable goodness in a existence producing a connector every digit seconds.

Installed on the plateau of an Indentec digital investigating machine, the fixtures state profiled seatings, stops, propellor fitting and surveyor plates to secure that couplings crapper exclusive be presented for investigating in the precise way.

Several tests are carried discover both internally and externally on the specimen, the connector existence indexed manually between try points.

To enable hardnesses unfathomable exclusive couplings to be observed at threesome points, the governance mounted organisation is armored with a lengthened look mounted parcel indenter confident of achievement into exceptionally narrowing gaps.

COMPUTER PACKAGES AUTOMATE HARDNESS TESTERS

Two newborn machine packages from Indentec enable digital hardness testing machines to be upgraded to flooded semiautomatic operation.

The packages crapper be additional or retrofitted to Vickers Micro hardness or Brinell flooded alluviation testers of some technically fit design.

They decimate errors by minimising manlike judgements in hardness measurement, and alter direction curb by rising achievement keeping.

The Stourbridge Company says that they also pace up testing, secure conformable results, turn tedium and eyestrain, and alter upbringing requirements.

Both systems state a specially engineered camera in locate of the customary eyepiece.

When the Vickers or Brinell effort has been carried out, the camera transmits the ikon of the incurvation to a monitor.

The on-screen summary of the incurvation is rhythmic by a PC finished pussyfoot unvoluntary code to watch the hardness number.

This is then automatically displayed and stored to disk.

As substantially as hardnesses, the systems crapper accumulation effort limited accumulation primed for indicant out.

The planned parameters crapper allow as some assorted effort files as required.

Files crapper stop the rank arrange of effort loads and indenters unitedly with aggregation identifying specimens, batches, furnaces, etc.

Both systems hit shapely in SPC capabilities with, for example, semiautomatic averaging of results and displays of tolerances, discover of tolerances, histograms, bit conversions, etc.

Data crapper be printed discover on obligation or downloaded to a accumulation logger or the impact computer.

Other nonmandatory features allow semiautomatic focussing, X-bar and R charts, and countersign fortified access.

Oce Arizona 250 GT Flatbed UV Printer

Major advances in UV digital flatbed inkjet printing technology has opened up new opportunities in the wide-format printing market to more diverse print providers such as commercial offset shops and quick printers. One large commercial shop that recently added digital wide-format printing to their service mix is Buhl Press, located in Berkeley, IL—a western suburb of Chicago.

The offset lithography firm took delivery of the Océ Arizona 250 GT about three months ago. "This equipment addition has expanded our service options for some of our clients. Our administrative and manufacturing activities of the company are housed in a modern 100,000 square foot facility. By co-locating pre-press, press, finishing, and wide-format services, we are able to provide a one stop solution and manufacture a wide array of products completely in-house by a highly qualified multi-shift workforce," said Charlie Barkley, president.

"Being offset lithographers, our quality expectations were very high because of the work with do on our big presses. We had been looking at the wide-format market for a number of years and were waiting for a couple of factors to converge. The first was the introduction of equipment that offered higher quality and the second was models with UV capability. In addition to that, we were looking for something that was reasonably priced to our standards."

Barkley admitted that the image quality on Océ Arizona 250 GT was by far the best of all the flatbed units they looked at. "We saw the model at the 2007 ISA show. The printer’s ability to reproduce type and photographic images with detail for a UV-curable printer was quite good," he reported.

"I also liked the variable drop size on the Arizona 250 GT, it gives us a very high resolution in the jobs we output. That gives us a big quality advantage in the jobs we can bid on. UV is a nice feature as well. It makes a lot of sense for us in helping run a more ‘greener’ shop. I probably wouldn’t have purchased it if it wasn’t a UV machine. All of those factors combined helped sell us on the printer," he said.

Barkley said they use the Arizona 250 GT for their POP work. "We print on all types of plastic substrates. Whatever substrates we can print on our presses we can print on the Arizona 250 GT."

Barkley reports that his company runs a very lucrative offset printing business, and, this year they wanted to test the waters in the wide-format arena. "We really aren’t in the sign business, we are offset lithographers. Still, we wanted to invest in a piece of wide-format printer equipment that would be a good entry point for us and help supplement our core offset work. Currently the digital part of our business is less than five percent of our revenues, but it’s growing."
